You'll feel pretty pleased with yourself even before you taste the food at the Wellingtonia in Fallowfields. Sip your aperitif on the terrace and spot the orchards and vegetable plots which supply fresh produce for your meal. Is that a quince? And those herbs - sorrel, perhaps, or borage? Then into the elegant, roomy restaurant, where you can dive into the seared scallops with fennel marinated with lime, dill and olive oil. For mains, try the finest Oxfordshire beef fillet with celeriac mash, puy lentils and poached quails eggs. Finish with the warm and dark chocolate and praline surprise - it comes with Tia Maria ice cream. With the floodgates well and truly open, it would be churlish to refuse the selection of cheeses (yes, and a glass of port).
