Just when you thought Battersea didn't need another gastropub, along comes the fine-looking Greyhound to prove us all wrong. There's always room for great modern European grub, groovy décor and leather sofas. But the real pulling point is the wine. Over 120 bottles grace the standard wine list, while there's another 350 from owner Mark Van Der Goot's (ex-sommelier of The Greenhouse) private cellar. The 20 available by the glass change to suit the seasonal menu. Smoked haddock and potato soup, slow roasted rump of Herdwick (i.e. Lake District) lamb with an open lasagne of pea, cauliflower, sweetbread, and caramel brulee are typically of the Greyhound's uncomplicated dishes that hit the spot every time.
This restaurant requires a credit card to secure a reservation for groups of 6 persons or more. Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the reservation) and no-shows will incur a charge of £10 per person.
